Answers

What is Chelation Therapy?

The chelating solution contains EDTA and vitamins and minerals and is administered intravenously. The treatment can last 20 to 30 minutes and may be recommended once to several times per week.

To ensure its safety, the health care professional will administer a number of tests before, during, and after the treatment.

Safety Issues

Not only does it appear to be ineffective, EDTA chelation therapy may present some safety risks. This treatment is generally given in a series of 10 to 30 sessions. If the practitioner fails to take proper precautions, severe adverse consequences, such as kidney damage, may result. Properly performed chelation therapy is unlikely to cause harm.
