I read that people who take Ritalin as children are at a greater risk of substance abuse. True?

Studies show that individuals on stimulation medication for ADHD are at no greater risk for substance abuse than anyone else. Other studies show that the use of stimulation medication in childhood may actually guard against future drug abuse. However, it is true that ADHD is roughly 5 to 10 percent more common in alcoholics than in people without the condition.
