Had my banding done a week ago on April 5th. I have 3 hemorrhoids but only 2 can be done. It was a quick procedure and wasn't painful at all. It just felt like I had to poop all day long. Took Tylenol for the little discomfort that I felt. I finally did poop that evening and I felt fine after that. Took 2 Tylenols and went to bed. The next morning I felt like nothing was ever done. Throughout the week I just felt a little irritation but nothing serious. I go back in 6 weeks for a check up and hopefully he will do the banding on the 3rd hemorrhoid.
I'm currently schedule for my 4th banding. The first was certainly uncomfortable but not overly painful, the second was initially quite painful for a few hours and then sore - although two bandings were performed. The third was not really painful at all and immediately alleviated the pelvic pain that I had been experiencing during the night. Hopefully the 4th will be equally effective. Even with pain I feel it is worth it since I will be able to return to an active lifestyle that has been missing for too long.
I had four large internal hemmorhoids banded last week. The doc used fentanyl and propofol for sedation during the process. When I woke up, my rear end hurt like hell. Then, I had side effects from the medication. I got dizzy when I stood up and passed out. Then I vomited for two hours. It's been eight days. The pain is horrid, and I swear I lose a cup or two of blood every day. Taking a poo is excruciating. I'm sure hoping for relief soon

I invariably put a local anaesthetic before I apply bands . Drs who don't have a common misconception about the nerve supply of the anal canal.
Went back for my second visit. He banded the 3rd hemorrhoid and banded the 1st one again because there was a small area still there. Took 2 Tylenols after I left, just felt a little pressure for a few hours and I was doing great. Might go back to band the 2nd one again because it is hurting again. I will see how it feels in about 4 weeks.
I didn't go back and I regret not going. The 3rd one has been inflamed since New Years. It was bothering me some in the fall, but I thought I had it under control. Being on my feet cooking New Years dinner aggravated it so bad. Going back on April 19th for another banding.
Went back yesterday for my 3rd banding. Banded the rear and left one for the second time. That rear is the most uncomfortable because of the position it is in. I had to grit my teeth on that one because it was swollen. Took my 2 Tylenol's and came came home, just felt a little pressure but no pain. Day 2 and I feel great. I go back for a recheck on May 31st.
Sorry I haven't updated since my last visit for my recheck. On that recheck, I was experiencing some discomfort on the rear one, there was something to grab on the next one too, so the doc grabbed both together in one banding. I asked him why and he said they were close enough to band together. That banding was the worse in all of them. The pain was bearable but wouldn't suggest it to anyone. There was too much pressure. I had a 1 1/2 ride home and I had to lay down in the back seat. Anyways, it is about a year now and I am doing fine. I am no longer lifting anything heavy and stay on stool softners.
