Shared experience with Osteoarthritis and Comfrey 3 years ago

I have successfully used Dr. Christopher’s Comfrey Salve on ACL tears, sprained ankles, rotator cuff injuries, osteoarthritis of the knee, meniscal tears and more! HOWEVER, once I applied the salve while I had a paper cut on one of my fingers and in less than 24 hours, the flesh had grown over the open wound, leaving the tissue underneath abscessed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND comfrey salve be applied only typically and only on intact skin.

Comfrey has an unprecedented effect on tissue regeneration. For this reason, a properly prepared salve is truly effective in use on sprains, strains, arthritic joints (as a result of tissue regeneration), rotator cuff injuries, etc. It has also been shown to be effect post-surgically (knee, hip, ankle) BUT... it should NOT be used on open wounds for two important reasons (1) hepatotoxicity, and (2) it will regrow the surface tissue FIRST, leaving the deeper tissue lagging—this can create an abscess of trapped bacteria and inflammation... perhaps a combination of comfrey with more antibiotic herbs would address this?
