Procedure to burn off uvula and part of soft palate to treat sleep apnea. This is an extremely painful procedure. It is indicated only for snoring, according to insurance carriers. Made apnea worse (requiring higher CPAP pressure), did not even cure snoring. I now sometimes slightly aspirate liquids. I can no longer produce uvular fricatives like French "r" or German "ch".

Ineffective. I needed increased CPAP pressure. Caused impaired function in the soft palate and muscles of the throat (called velopharyngeal insufficiency), which can make it difficult to keep liquids out of the airway. No longer able to produce gutteral sounds, e.g. French "R" and German "kh".
