Cardioversion works on some people and others it doesn't... I have had three cardioversions all three worked initially (all three put my heart back in rhythm, but two went back out. I just had the third cardioversion three days ago and I have had more side effects this time (paddle burns, coughing and shortness of breath). I have also had a 6 1/2 hour cardiac ablation procedure which worked initially, but again my heart has gone back into atril flutter. I have had good luck with Tikosyn, but it has to be administered in the hospital and is very dangerous with lots of side effects.
My advice is to get a Cardiologist that you have confidence in and listen to him and do your own research.
