I have herniated thoracic and lumbar disc and heal spurs. By day 7 the pain was alleviated which I do not get from nsaids or other otc anti inflammatories. However, I do not know if these pains will return upon cessation. I am on the last two days of the tapering down schedule...so we shall see.

What dose did you take during the first 7 days to notice that the pain level went down? Good luck with the rest of it! Great to hear that it has been working so far!

I took 4 mg dexamethasone 4 x's a day X 2 days and tapered down from there. I believe it was the accumulation of the doses that built up in my body that relieved the pain. I am now a few days off the meds and still feeling pretty good..but not pain free... but it definitely calmed the nerve pain. I was having a sharp pain when I inhaled. Now I am just sore but no severe pain upon inhalation...progress!

I would recommend it. I have lumbar stenosis, and have had both epidurals and oral steroids to relieve acute flare ups. Both times I used prednisone, the acute symptoms were alleviated within 24 hours.

Methylprednisolone has been a God send for my degenerative osteoarthritis pain. I am 66 years old and have suffered with a flare up for about 4 months until I got help from this drug. My only concern is that this is my last day of treatment and I am starting to feel the pain return slowly as I wean off the med. What now I wonder can keep the pain away on a daily basis since I can't take this long term?

I have an auto immune disease that causes severe inflammation at my SI joints. I cannot take the traditional medicines typically prescribed, Humira, Enbrel, methotrexate, and cimzia to name a few. So, steroids are a temporary fix to reduce the inflammation from a flare up, and resulting pain involved.

When I take the dosepak the only side effects I experience are: the need to clean every thing. Seriously I have a ton of energy without being shaky. It also makes me slightly short with people around me. Not mad or angry, just curt. My heart sometimes races, but not every time.
