I have been doing Bikram Yoga for 7 years and it changed my life. My back pain become alleviated. I have more energy and become less prone to flu and cold. All the changes I saw in myself made me decide to continue the exercise when I became pregnant in 2009. It's the most wise decision I have ever made. Being concerned about my family history of diabetes, doctor paid close attention to my glucose level, which turned out to be very normal, as well as blood pressure. Because of the regular 3-times-a-week exercise, I maintained high energy, no swelling nor complication. My baby was born full term and has been very healthy and happy. I wouldn't recommend Bikram Yoga to new student during pregnancy though. You have to give some time for your body to fully adjust to the heat and intense exercise. But if you have been doing Bikram for a while and you feel comfortable in the heat, I would say continuing the exercise will benefit both the mother and the baby. At the end, thank you Bikram Yoga San Jose my home studio for supporting me through the 40-week challenge!

Yoga has been my primary exercise for the past three years. I can always tell the difference when I don't practice often. When I am practicing consistently, I feel more energetic, have better posture, feel more confident, and think more clearly. For these reasons, I believe strongly in the power of yoga as a body-based integrative health modality.

Fabulous for stress reduction and general well being. My 10-year-old just started doing it independently of me because, as she puts it, "it makes her feel great!"
Thanks! It's great to hear that yoga has not only helped you, but also helping your daughter. A great way to bond.
What types of yoga do you and your daughter practice?

I started doing yoga with my mom and sister a few months back. I had no particular health issues, but I felt that I needed to improve the strength of my body. Yoga challenged me consistently, in ways that I had never challenged myself before. Additionally, my dad started coming with my mom, sister and I. For a family that is very busy and doesn't see each other much, yoga served as a productive activity for us to share together. In that sense, I would say it improved my entire family's physical and mental health.

I have also done Bikram Yoga for 16 years. I continued to do the pregnancy yoga from him and his wife, Rajashree. I felt like I was properly "trained" when I gave birth and I recovered within days. Bikram Yoga has changed my life and I am so thankful that I found it.
Great to hear your experiences and health benefits from Bikram Sherry and Rita. It's inspiring to hear about Bikram training as helpful for birthing your children!
